Boston comes into tonight riding a five-game road winning streak and had won eight straight before closing out the week with back-to-back home losses to Oakland. 

The Blue Jays counter by handing the ball to right-hander Jameson Taillon (2-6, 5.96 ERA), who makes his home debut in Toronto after being acquired from the Cubs. Taillon has sputtered through a rough campaign, carrying a bloated ERA and 1.39 WHIP into this matchup. He faces a tough task keeping pace tonight against a St. Louis squad that has shown plenty of life in recent games.

Cardinals righty Hunter Dobbins (2-2, 3.60 ERA) meanwhile has added real stability to the rotation lately. He boasts a solid 3.60 ERA on the season and an even sharper 3.05 ERA over his last three starts, including a strong 6 1/3-inning outing against the Yankees last week. St. Louis holds the upper hand on the mound and carries momentum into Busch Stadium.

The Bet: Cardinals (3%).

The Angle(s): San Diego righty Casey Mize (4-7, 3.40 ERA) and Milwaukee rookie Logan Henderson (6-1, 2.70 ERA) bring strong, reliable numbers into this series opener at Petco Park. Mize is no stranger to Milwaukee, sporting a solid 1-1 record with a 3.18 ERA in two prior career starts against them, and he looks to settle in after making his Padres debut last week.

Henderson meanwhile, enters off another dominant outing, picking up a 4-2 win over the visiting Pirates last Tuesday. In that start, he fanned eight over six crisp innings while allowing just four hits and two runs. This will be his first career appearance against San Diego, and his deceptive stuff should keep a disciplined Padres order in check.

Both pitching matchups and team trends point heavily toward a low-scoring grind: Milwaukee is 1-8-1 to the under in their last 10 games overall and a remarkable 21-11 to the under as road favorites this season.
