The Cleveland Browns are coming off of a big win against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5. The win now puts Cleveland at 4-1 on the season, which is their best start to an NFL season since 1994.
They were able to overcome two bad interceptions by quarterback Baker Mayfield in order to pull their last win out. They have also been using a running back by committee approach all season long with Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb. However, Chubb missed their Week 5 matchup and is bound to miss this upcoming game against the Steelers as well. Which means that Hunt will need to carry the slack for the both of them this upcoming game, although it shouldn’t be a problem as he has played outstanding football so far this season.
Their air attack has also been very impressive so far this season, most of that is due to their new head coach being able to design plays in order to get his playmakers involved in each game. Their defense has also made some big improvements over the last few weeks but still has a ton of things to clean up. Meanwhile, the Steelers are currently undefeated right now and have looked like a loaded team so far. Their offense has been able to get back on track ever since Ben Roethlisberger has come back from his injury and their rushing attack has gotten back to form now that James Connor has also come back from injury.
Their defense has also been one of the best defenses in the entire league, with playmakers on all three levels of the football. They are a complete team from top to bottom and should give the Browns a lot to handle in this matchup. I expect the Browns to score a good amount of points against this deadly Steelers defense due to their newfound rushing attack and how much their play calling has improved this season.
However, their defense may not be able to stop the Steelers offense. Especially now that Pittsburgh may have found themselves a brand-new star in wide receiver Chase Claypool. He was able to score four touchdowns against the Eagles in his Week 5 game, with three receiving touchdowns and one of them being a rushing touchdown. Him and Juju Smith-Schuster will give this defense headaches and will cause for a lot of confusion on that side of the football. All in all, this game will probably come down to the wire as these two teams know each other very well and should be able to counter each all other game long. While the Steelers remain the favorite this game, I wouldn’t count out the Browns just yet.
