Best NFL Straight Up Picks Week 11 2021
Patriots vs. Falcons
The Patriots defense has been looking mighty scary the last couple of weeks. Their secondary has been lights out and their pass rush has slowly progressed as the season has gone on. Mac Jones is one of the best rookie quarterbacks out there right now and their backfield is loaded with talent. On the other side of this is the inconsistent Falcons, they win a huge game then choke a fat lead to a worse team. It doesn’t make much sense but the talent is there even though Calvin Ridley won’t be here for this game due to mental health issues. If we are looking at defenses, New England has Atlanta beat. They also have a far better ground game than the Falcons but a worse passing attack. I think this is going to be a coin flip type of game but let’s roll with the Patriots here.
Texans vs. Titans
Well, this one shouldn’t take too long to cover. Tyrod Taylor looked awful in his first game back after suffering an early season injury. The rest of this Texans team is as you would expect, given the fact that they are probably the worst team in the league and right in the beginning of a rebuild. As for the Titans, the loss of Derrick Henry was huge but Adrian Peterson has filled that void pretty nicely. The rest of this offense is still elite and their defense is shocking the world right now after a huge win over the Los Angeles Rams which included multiple sacks and interceptions. Tennessee is legit and they will coast to a win in this one.
Ravens vs. Bears
The Baltimore Ravens have played some great football throughout the year and have come away with wildly improbably victories. Lamar Jackson is absolutely electric and the backfield has some great weapons with Devonta Freeman and LeVeon Bell giving them some nice veteran leadership. Defensively they are average at best but do boast one of the top corners in the game with Marlon Humphery. On the other hand, Justin Fields has played great when given the opportunity, but it just doesn’t seem like his head coach is all in right now. Their defense is being left on the field far too long and this offensive line is just atrocious to say the least. I really like how the Ravens always find ways to battle back, pick them here.
Saints vs. Eagles
Who knows what to make of this Saints team right now. I absolutely love their defense and they have some of the best players in the league on that side of the ball. But as great as Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram are, their offense is horrible. Trevor Siemian has literally nobody to throw the football too with Michael Thomas out. He has played really well but dropped passes are severely holding them back from reaching their potential. They do have a chance to get back with a win over Philadelphia. Jalen Hurts is definitely carrying this football team with Miles Sanders out at the moment but he suffers from the same thing as Siemian. Their defense has a stellar defensive line with a mediocre secondary which should make for a very good defensive battle. I am going to take the Saints though; I trust Sean Payton’s coaching a little more right now.
Colts vs. Bills
I think that the Colts are really underrated right now and everyone is sleeping on Carson Wentz. He has made some horrible decisions so far, this season but outside of those boneheaded mistakes he has been accurate and healthy for this team. Jonathan Taylor is phenomenal at running back and their defense is young and fast. However, the same goes for Buffalo, as they are ranked in the top ten in both sides of the ball. Josh Allen also just had his down week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, meaning he is going to want to come out and right those wrongs here. I would take the Bills in this one.
Lions vs. Browns
I genuinely feel so bad for the Lions. Every week they are just so close yet can never pull away with a win. Nevertheless, they are still rebuilding and aren’t really expected to compete just yet. They get the Browns this week and boy are they starting to get on a roll now that Odell Beckham Jr is off the roster. Nick Chubb is back and dominating and even this defense is starting to gel together behind Myles Garrett and his insane sack total right now. I would easily roll with Cleveland in this game.
Packers vs. Vikings
Division rivalries are always incredibly fun to watch. The Packers clearly need Aaron Rodgers out on the field, because Jordan Love just didn’t look very good in his first start. The rest of this offense is more than capable of putting up big numbers against a shaky Minnesota secondary and could be in store for a nice game. Defensively, Green Bay is pretty damn good. They have shut down a number of strong teams so far this season and likely won’t stop here. The Vikings do have a loaded offense but with the distractions circling Dalvin Cook right now and a bit of a losing streak, I just don’t trust them at the moment.
Football Team vs. Panthers
The Washington Football Team is a complete mess despite all of the hype surrounding them at the beginning of the season. Their offense is horrible outside of Terry McLaurin, and Antonio Gibson is battling so many injuries that the team decides they just don’t want to utilize him. Their defense is severely underwhelming on top of that. Luckily, the Panthers have been equally as disappointing. Sam Darnold won’t be playing this week meaning we should be watching PJ Walker here. Christian McCaffrey will help him out tremendously but he just hasn’t shown enough to really convince me that a struggling team will win with him at the quarterback spot. At least I know what I’m going to be getting out of Taylor Heinicke.
49ers vs. Jaguars
If you had given me this question two weeks ago, the answer is undoubtedly the 49ers. However, things have changed since then. San Francisco lost to the backups of the Arizona Cardinals a few weeks ago and just don’t look that good right now. Then the Jaguars completely upset the Bills in a 9-6 defensive battle with the linebacker Josh Allen dominating. James Robinson should be back in the lineup for Jacksonville but Trevor Lawrence is questionable with an ankle injury. These are two unpredictable teams right now, but I think I am barely leaning towards the 49ers just because this is a game they should be winning. Although I am not 100 percent confident with them withstanding a sneaky talented team like the Jaguars.
Dolphins vs. Jets
Wow, this game is probably going to be the least watched game this week. I don’t mean any disrespect towards either team but neither of them have been very watchable this season besides when Mike White it out on the field for New York. Tua Tagovailoa is still battling off injuries and their offense as a whole is pretty stagnant. Miami also saw their defense take a random steep decline year over year. The Jets are in the middle of a rebuild as you all know so their roster isn’t supposed to look very good right now as expected. They are also division rivals which make this even tougher to choose but I think if Zach Wilson plays, the Dolphins win. The only way I change my pick to the Jets is if White gets to start another game.
Bengals vs. Raiders
The Bengals are freefalling down the rankings right now and are losing a ton of games that they shouldn’t be. The Jets one was horrible and getting stomped by the Browns wasn’t really a terrific bounce back game from then. Joe Burrow and this team have fallen down to Earth and get a Raiders team that has weathered storm after storm from the media. It is seriously impressive how they stay focused and put their best foot forward week after week. I think this is going to be really close throughout, but I am going to go with the Bengals in this one with hopes that they finally find their swagger again.
Cardinals vs. Seahawks
This is probably going to be one of the best games of the week. Arizona is a fantastic team overall right now, even with JJ Watt missing the rest of the season. Kyler Murray and Deandre Hopkins are simply unstoppable and James Connor is a machine inside the red zone. Their defense has a great pass rush and some studs on the back end. Seattle has a significantly worse defense outside of Bobby Wagner and Jamal Adams, but they do boast Russell Wilson, DK Metcalf, Chris Carson and Tyler Lockett offensively to keep themselves in this game. These two are always so close with one another that I think this one will be the same. I am going to say the Seahawks upset them this week, but this is definitely one that could turn either way.
Cowboys vs. Chiefs
The Cowboys just got themselves embarrassed by the Denver Broncos. Though to be honest, every team needs a good humbling from time to time and I think this will only help them get better. Dak Prescott and this powerful offense are still going to be putting up points and their defense just had an off week. As for the Chiefs, well their getting better but they aren’t the Super Bowl champions that we know them to be. Patrick Mahomes and company are turning the ball over way too much and forcing too many big plays down the field. Their defense is also wildly unpredictable, they are either the best or the worst unit in the league, not in between. I am going to be taking the Chiefs here, I just keep holding onto the faith that they will improve soon.
Steelers vs. Chargers
The Steelers are a mixed bag right now. Their offense is loaded with talent but their offensive line has dragged them down along with Ben Roethlisberger’s poor play. Lately both of those things have gotten much better and their defense is obviously one of the best in the league. Though the Chargers represent a tough test with Justin Herbert and company being one of the most lethal offenses. Their defense leaves much to be desired but should hang with the Steelers considering their struggles. I am a big fan of both of these teams but I have to roll with Pittsburgh. Somehow, this team always finds a way to win games that they shouldn’t and I think this will be one of those matchups.
Giants vs. Buccaneers
The Giants did cause Tampa Bay a lot of trouble last season when they met up. It must be something with Tom Brady and those Giants jerseys. Regardless, I am expecting something similar to happen. Although I don’t expect New York to pull out a win. They are seriously banged up with injuries and the Buccaneers don’t want to lose the division lead to the Saints so easily. Brady will struggle at times here but they will find a way to win this ball game in the end.
