Best NFL Straight Up Picks Week 10 2021
Ravens vs. Dolphins
This one is going to be a pretty easy one. Yes, the Dolphins were somehow able to keep it close against the Buffalo Bills a few weeks ago, but that just won’t happen again. They weren’t able to get Deshaun Watson at the trade deadline and their offense is mediocre at best coupled with a bad defense. Meanwhile, the Ravens have one of the most electric quarterbacks in the league in Lamar Jackson and a great defense. The Ravens should easily win this one on the road.
Buccaneers vs. Football Team
The Buccaneers did have another rough game against the New Orleans Saints a bit ago, but the Washington Football Team has just been so underwhelming all year. Terry McLaurin has been great, but the rest of this offense is practically non-existent. Their pass rush has underperformed also! Now, they have to go up against Tom Brady and this absolutely stacked out offense? I don’t know about you, but I can’t see Tampa Bay leaving this game with a loss even if they are on the road. Take them with confidence.
Saints vs. Titans
If I had to make this pick three weeks ago, it for sure would look a lot different than it will right now. Jameis Winston is out for the season with a torn ACL, and they now have to place their faith in Trevor Siemian or Taysom Hill at quarterback. Luckily, their defense is phenomenal and they have a stellar offensive line. The Titans on the other hand lost Derrick Henry for the next eight to ten weeks with a broken foot. His absence completely changes this offense and they have to score points because of how bad their defense has been. With Henry and Winston playing, I take the Titans. However, with all of this new information I have to go with the Saints in what could be an upset win.
Falcons vs. Cowboys
It is incredibly disappointing that Calvin Ridley won’t be playing in this game but I hope he takes enough time to get himself in a better place mentally. Kyle Pitts will likely be the focal point of this offense moving forward though, with Matt Ryan playing some good but not great football lately. This defense has been surprising, but then again, so has this entire Dallas Cowboys team. Dak Prescott is still exceptional at quarterback, Ezekiel Elliott is back in shape and this defense is suddenly one of the best groups in the league. Atlanta has kept it close with a lot of teams this season and could be a nice sleeper pick, but if Prescott plays then they have to be the best pick here no question.
Browns vs. Patriots
What is going on with the Browns? Odell Beckham Jr badly wanted out but is now stuck with them with the passing of the deadline. Kareem Hunt, Nick Chubb, Jarvis Landry and Baker Mayfield have all dealt with numerous injuries on top of that. They aren’t scoring consistently whatsoever and their defense has been awful at times. The Patriots seem to be in a somewhat similar boat, at least defensively. Offensively, Mac Jones looks like the future for them. Their running back room is stacked up with talent but they seriously need work getting playmakers on the offense outside of a few tight ends. Many people are going to be doubting the Browns after a couple of bad weeks but I still have faith that they are going to turn it around soon.
Bills vs. Jets
Do we even have to dive into too much detail for this one? Yes, Mike White has been so surprising and has kept this Jets team in games for the most part, but he isn’t going to outduel Josh Allen here. Their defense is too suspect for them to be able to stay in the game and keep a lead if the game goes down to the wire. Buffalo has a plethora of weapons on both ends that are immediately going to give them an edge here. To wrap it all up, the Bills are Super Bowl contenders while the Jets are in the early stages of a rebuild.
Jaguars vs. Colts
There is just a lot of games this week that won’t be that close. I like what the Jaguars have been doing this season with Trevor Lawrence and James Robinson on offense, but that hasn’t been enough and won’t be enough against the Colts. Jacksonville’s defense is horrible and the Colts, though admittedly haven’t been very consistent, are a much better football team on both ends. Carson Wentz has had some awful plays this year but is good for the most part. Just like this earlier game, the Jaguars do have a possibility to win but it just seems wildly unlikely.
Lions vs. Steelers
I really love how this Detroit Lions team plays, outside of that atrocious blowout at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles a few weeks ago. Other than that, they have shown to play with grit and heart that we haven’t seen from them in a while. Unfortunately, they play the Steelers this week who have a much better roster overall. Detroit will keep this game close up until the end but even though he is declining I trust Ben Roethlisberger more than Jared Goff in a big moment.
Vikings vs. Chargers
This is a game that I am really excited for. The Vikings have had some shocking wins that make me think they are a fantastic team, then they go ahead and lose to Cooper Rush. It’s a back-and-forth cycle for this team but I definitely think that they have enough talent to go out and grab a win. They get a Chargers team that has stumbled lately and lose a few games in a row. Ever since their bye week they have just played some sloppy football but just like Minnesota, their talent is immense. I definitely predict this one to be a shootout but I am going to have to take the Chargers, they just have too much talent to continue to lose close games like this.
Panthers vs. Cardinals
The Panthers have just been completely falling apart in front of our eyes. Without Christian McCaffrey on this roster, they can’t do anything on offense and Sam Darnold looks like he is back on the Jets. With him, this is suddenly a playoff contending roster with a breakout quarterback. Defense hasn’t been an issue all year for them and Stephon Gilmore is just now getting into the thick of this defensive scheme to make it even better. Then, there isn’t much to say about the formerly 7-0 Cardinals. Kyler Murray’s health is a big question but this is a phenomenal team from top to bottom. McCaffrey should be playing as well as Murray, but I think Arizona finds themselves a way to dominate this game one way or another. Their offense is on a completely different level than Carolinas.
Eagles vs. Broncos
I am struggling to pick a winner for this game. Miles Sanders and the rest of this run game is barely utilized in Philly when it comes to be a close game. Jalen Hurts isn’t nearly good enough or with the right protection or weapons to be able to throw the football 40 times a game. Their defense also can’t stop too many teams when passing. Denver is in a similar boat but they should be on the verge of a rebuild. They have a mediocre offense with no explosiveness outside of Jerry Jeudy, and they just traded Von Miller to make their great defense worse. This is a serious toss up but I am going to pick the Broncos this week, they have been a little more consistent against bad teams.
Seahawks vs. Packers
This game is completely decided upon the health of Russell Wilson. Seattle is a great team overall with Russ as their starting quarterback and Chris Carson their lead back, but without them they look like a shell of themselves. Green Bay has just been on an absolute tear since losing that season opener and are in prime position to get upset soon. These two teams always duke it out in great games, so I am going to be a little different and take the Seahawks only if Wilson is the starting quarterback again. If Geno Smith gets another start than this is going to be a Green Bay blowout.
Chiefs vs. Raiders
Are the Chiefs okay? Their offense is considered the most turnover prone in the league and their defense can’t stop a fly. Despite excellent coaching and generational talent, they just can’t get the job done and nobody at all knows what the problem is. They get their division rivals the Raiders this year who are going through a rough patch themselves but off the field, with Jon Gruden’s situation earlier and now Henry Ruggs. Division games always end up being close, and I still have faith in the Chiefs regardless of their awful start to the year. The Raiders are a great team, but Patrick Mahomes has to get it all figured out eventually.
Rams vs. 49ers
Let’s face it, it really won’t matter who ends up being the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers in this one. Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance are both strong options, neither possess enough to get them over the hump in this game against a very good Rams team that somehow found a way to get better. Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp are a fantastic duo and they added Von Miller to a squad that already boasts Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey. The 49ers won’t be blown out as they are division rivals, but Los Angeles won’t have problems scoring the football here nor will they struggle to slow down Garoppolo or Lance.
